A new subscription site that makes it easier to have your favourite magazine delivered right to your door

ALLER MEDIA
Aller Media, one of the Nordic region’s largest players in magazines and digital media, has launched a new subscription site to streamline and simplify the subscription process for customers in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. With Optimizely Commerce as the platform, customers can now easily explore and subscribe to their favourite magazines. The new site is designed to improve the user experience, increase customer satisfaction, and strengthen Aller Media’s digital presence.
Introduction
Aller Media, one of the Nordic region's leading players in magazines and digital media, needed a new subscription site to better meet customer needs and drive more subscriptions for its popular magazines.
With over 140 years of experience in the media industry, Aller Media wanted to take a step forward by modernising its digital offering and ensuring a smooth and efficient subscription process to better reach new customers and provide enhanced service to existing ones.
Background
The existing site had limitations in terms of user experience, functionality, and technical performance. Aller Media wanted a platform that would not only be flexible and user-friendly but also capable of managing all magazines for each market (Norway, Denmark, & Sweden) with localised offers.
The aim was to create a site where customers can easily explore, compare, and subscribe – whether using a computer, tablet, or mobile. The goal was to make the subscription process as simple and intuitive as possible to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.
The Project
We evaluated various e-commerce platforms with Aller, looking for a sophisticated solution based on a modern e-commerce platform that could integrate into an existing, highly scalable technical environment based on microservices.
The choice was Optimizely Commerce, a platform we know delivers on the promise of scalability and flexibility. We implemented it alongside Optimizely Content Management System (CMS) and deployed it on Azure, utilising Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to ensure efficient management.
Content and catalogue items are delivered headlessly, combining the Content Delivery API with custom APIs.To effectively manage all magazines and improve data quality, we implemented Struct as a PIM (Product Information Management system), which is synchronised with Optimizely Commerce & CMS.
The system is also integrated with Advantage Subscription, allowing for customer subscription management of the products. Microsoft Dynamics CRM manages additional customer information and consent, integrated with Optimizely. This provides Aller with better control over product management, i.e., handling all information related to the magazines.
The new site, https://allerservice.dk, is designed to maximise conversions and make it easy for Aller's new and returning customers to explore and subscribe to its wide range of magazines.
