Improve your business with an accessible website

Do you think digital accessibility is about doing good for a small group? Or about meeting legal requirements? Think again! An accessible website benefits everyone – and boosts your business as well.

One-third live with a disability

Digital accessibility is about designing websites and digital services to be usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. According to the Swedish Agency for Participation, over 30 percent of the population lives with some form of disability that affects vision, hearing, cognition, or mobility. By not including people with disabilities, we are excluding a significant portion of the market.

Accessible services benefit us all

A disability can be permanent or temporary, but can also arise in the moment. Most of us have experienced difficulty reading text on our mobile phones when the sun is shining in our faces or being limited to using one hand while holding a shopping bag in the other. The fact is, that accessibility benefits everyone, especially mobile users, inexperienced technology users, older people, and those with Swedish as a second language. With an accessible website, you miss no one!

Stricter legal requirements are coming soon

On June 28, 2025, a new accessibility law – the Accessibility Directive – will be enacted. The law is based on the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and means that even more actors than before will need to ensure that websites, products, and services are usable by everyone. Companies that fail to meet the requirements risk fines and having their products removed from the market.

How accessibility benefits your business

Legal requirements aside, accessibility should be on every company’s to-do list. At its core, it’s about taking responsibility, but it’s also about business opportunities. As you’ve already understood, accessibility has many benefits:

You reach more people

An accessible website reaches a broader audience who can engage with and use it.

You get more satisfied users

Accessible websites are typically faster and easier to use. They improve the user experience for everyone through easier navigation, clearer layouts, and faster loading times.

You strengthen your brand

Prioritising accessibility shows that your company cares about its users – demonstrating thoughtfulness and empathy. This strengthens your brand and builds loyalty.

You increase visibility

A website with clear, well-organised, and understandable content is not only more accessible to your users but also to search engines. In other words, you’ll increase your reach.

As a bonus, accessibility can also give you a more eco-friendly website. In both cases, you want a website that is easy to navigate and efficient.
