Meet Linda Axelsson: UX student, intern, and rising star

Linda Axelsson is studying UX design at the Stockholm Technical Institute (STI) and has spent the past eight weeks doing her LIA internship at Esatto's office in Stockholm. We sat down with her for a moment and bombarded her with some challenging questions.

Smiling Linda Axelsson sits on a sofa wearing a brown cardigan.

Why did you want to do your internship at Esatto?

I wanted to try interning at a digital agency, and Esatto came up as a recommended place. The reasons for choosing an agency were many, including the opportunity to experience as many different tasks as possible during the short time I had. Eight weeks go by quickly.

What have you been working on these past eight weeks?

It’s been full speed ahead from the start. I’ve mostly worked with Byggvarubedömningen and the development of their digital services. That has been my home base—complex enough and very educational. But I’ve also had the chance to work on a variety of other things, such as some pitches and a project in med tech. I also got to attend the Esattio party where Esatto celebrated its first ten years. It was fun to talk to customers and partners who had been around much longer than I had.

There's a lot of talk about generative AI now. How do you think your studies and future career will be affected?

There’s incredible potential in many aspects. We’ll be able to use generative AI to process large amounts of user data and present suggestions for alternative paths forward. I also hope that new tools will free up a lot of time to focus on more creative and fun tasks. It’s still in its early stages, but when great-grandma can ask ChatGPT and get a good answer, then we’ve got something going. But there’s still a way to go. At school, I feel that STI has embraced the new technology without blinders. We have many external speakers from the industry, and many of them have talked about how we can use new tools in our work.

How have we done?

Esatto gets a gold star and top marks. It’s an incredibly welcoming environment, and I’ve felt like part of the team from day one. It really feels like everyone is happy to have me here. I’ve learned a lot from a wide range of colleagues. Since everyone sits together, I’ve gained insights and knowledge in UX writing, analysis, front-end development, and more. It’s both an open office and open colleagues. And the lunchroom is fantastic.

And you've done well too, and you'll be coming back in the spring.

Yes, exactly. I’ll be back in the spring for my second internship period, which will be twelve weeks instead. I’m already looking forward to it. It’ll be nice to skip the intro period and start working more directly. I also hope to focus more on UX research, especially user testing and similar tasks. I’ll also need to complete a thesis. Right now, I’m considering something related to AI, accessibility, or green web design. And since you’re great at all those things, it’s going to be fantastic.
